Message	much pressure I was supposed to use. I ended up getting it off with a towel and a pipe wrench. It did the job, however it left a bit of a fade were the wrench gripped the knob and slipped a bit. I was a little upset, but I was putting on a new shift knob, so it wasn't too big of a deal. The only thing I could suggest is that when you think you are using too much pressure, keep going. That's what I did and it worked.
